Burton Anderson was a Loan Originator for over fifteen years, and has specialized in Reverse Mortgages. It’s in his blood! His father worked for the same mortgage processor for over fifty years! For four years Burt was mortgage licensed in Arizona, after five years as a Loan Officer in Hawaii.
In addition, he has been directly involved in real estate as a builder/developer, salesperson, Broker and trainer for over forty years. He was the Education Committee Chairman for the Kona Hawaii Board of Realtors. He presently owns “Burt Anderson Real Estate” in Arizona.
As Broker In Charge (BIC) of the largest real estate company on the Big Island of Hawaii he trained salespersons in the nuances of Reverse Mortgages. He is a graduate of the Real Estate Institute (GRI), and has many other special professional designations.
Born in Brooklyn, New York’s Bedford Stuyvesant ghetto, he graduated from The Polytechnic Institute (now NYU-Poly) with an engineering degree. He went on to earn his MBA in Marketing at CCNY. Both degrees were earned in night school while working full-time days to support his family! (Burt was subsequently voted by CCNY into the National Management Honor Society, MuGammaTau.)
After a successful twenty- year career, mostly in upper-level Fortune 500 management, he began a very successful twenty- year Wall Street career, achieving licenses as both a General Securities Principal and Municipal Securities Principal, and owning his own Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction.
Eventually Burt decided to leave the “rat race” and become a self-employed entrepreneur. A published author since 1970, he has written fourteen books and countless articles. He has been published in Leaders magazine, which is sent only to heads of state and corporate CEOs.
Burt credits his writing success to mentoring by writing-guru Dan Poynter of Para Publishing. Much of his general business knowledge was learned from famous author Robert Allen. He attributes his motivation to the late great Art Linkletter with whom he has shared a speaker’s podium.

He is a serious amateur golfer, with a room full of trophies, including winning the Burns & Roe Long Island Open (twice), his college Alumni Championship, and a recent Gold Medal in the local Senior Olympics!
An often-awarded photographer, he is one of a small group chosen for the designation of “Honorary Degree of Distinction” (H.D.D.) by The International Freelance Photographers Association, along with induction into their Hall of Fame. He also holds valid Press Credentials.
Burt is an accomplished SCUBA diver, and a private pilot, proud of his past service with the Civil Air Patrol. His serious hobbies include astronomy, rock-hounding, and internet marketing.
With a strong belief in “giving back”, Burt has served on the Boards of Directors of many local non-profit groups. He is a Vietnam era veteran and proud member of American Legion Post #66 in Green Valley, Arizona. And he is one of the original members of American MENSA from fifty years ago!
Burt is also an Ordained Minister, a credential obtained during has “religious period” in the 1960s. He still offers marriage services and bereavement counseling to friends and family.
Married to his beautiful wife Melanie for thirty years, he has four children and two grandchildren. Burt and Mel live on a remote ranch in the high Sonoran Desert with their two great pups Cocoa and Gracie.
In his 77th year and very comfortably “non-retired”, Burt’s pet peeve is the fact that seniors are so often taken advantage of financially. He believes that Reverse Mortgages fall into the category of financial products that are sold to seniors as the “best thing ever”, and are in fact anything but.
He fervently hopes that this book will offer some helpful guidance for seniors who find themselves in the process of making this important Reverse Mortgage decision.
We wish him well!
